Anticipation Project

It's done. There are a few things I would have liked to tweak, but overall, it's finished. And some of the things I would have "fixed" have enhanced the theme according to some.

Capstone

I'm spending this week really getting into prep for my capstone. I've got about half of the people I need committed to the project, and the other half interested. Our first production meeting happened last night, and while it was a bit less smooth than I had envisioned, it was still good. Questions were brought up that I'd thought about, but didn't have answers to. Some production roles/expectations were defined. I have one more person to work with (there will be 3-4 total, including me).

I actually feel prepared for this film... I really need to work on pitching it though. Spoken word is not my gift, and I'm still learning how to speak what I'm trying to say.

As far as story goes, all you're getting at this stage is the current premise (still being refined as I meet with people): "Answers need questions to be asked."

Also, 2 back up plans (see...I'm prepared): one doc, and one narrative script in case someone tells me last minute I can't do a documentary.

Anticipation Project

I'm learning so much through this. Lots of new things technically, and a short period of time to do it in. It's coming together though. Soon I should have solved the problem of constantly having to render my timeline (with the help of Jonathan). If you're in the NYC area, come to the show July 16th-18th from 11am-8pm to see the finished product. There's lots of construction and cutting leaves in addition to our film going on over the next few days. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Another 3 second update

I'm in NYC on the Tribeca project still. Our collaborative group's word/theme is Anticipation. We're making a film...technically two short films that work together to tell one story in split screen. It's a ton of work in a short period of time. Coffee is our friend.

Along the same line of thinking, I've got a ton of stuff to get done before capstone in the fall. It will happen...coffee is my friend. New York is awesome, and I'm learning a lot. I've got a mentor who has a lot in common with me. It's great. This experience is really taxing & exhausting, but it's good. I'm learning. I'm growing. I'm becoming addicted to caffeine.

Really short update

For now, this is going to be the page my domain name links to. I have yet to set up web-hosting and the free-webs thing just isn't working the way I want/need it to. I really like the layout, I just have no way to link to my photos and videos aside from in individual posts. If I can figure out a way to set them as links on the left that don't interact with individual posts, then I'm set.

Aside from that random bit of news...I'm in NYC. PJU isn't done yet. Neither is the Dr. Moorehead thing, but that is much closer to being done. I may be able to finish that up while I'm here if I have a few minutes every now and then. I will hopefully be wandering over to B&H while I'm here and picking up a small HD video camera...like handheld flip-cam tiny. That way I will be able to work on other projects up here too. I'm thinking of doing a sketchbook type thing. I've talked about it for a while, but being up here is pushing me to actually do it. Basically, I'd make a bunch of little short films. Nothing huge or requiring a ton of time, but just enough to work my creative muscles and get some more practice in....like an artist's sketchbook...If you want to know more about the trip, click on the link to my other blog. I've gone into detail there.

This is why you shoot with a script

I'm still editing Poetically Just Us. I need to finish it before I leave for NYC & before I lose my mind. I see the connections between the different things we shot, but I'm having trouble connecting the pieces in the film. And at this point, I'm just sick of it. I want to be spending this time on other projects. Projects where I'm not working alone, and projects that still seem relevant. I'll have another cut finished tonight & dropped off at Expo in the morning. I can't wait to see the end of this film...it's been unfinished for entirely too long.

Things Fall Together

I thought it was fitting to post an update right about now since I'm baking cookies in preparation for the UCF Film Documentary screener...which includes "Things Fall Together". The film is done. I will probably end up tweaking a few things before I submit it to festivals, but the film is turned in and will be screened in roughly 12 hours. I'm nervous as I always am before I screen something, but I'm also really excited to see everyone's films as part of an audience.

To sum up Things Fall Together- It's not the film I was trying to make, but I'm happy with what came out of it. I learned a lot, had fun, and got a free tattoo. And I still have a film at the end of it all. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this film happen.
